Puppy Mill Survivors

Puppy Mill #1
We
received four dogs from the same puppy mill in southern Minnesota.

Patisse-Wire Fox
Terrier/Poodle Mix, Male, 12 - 14 years old
Patisse
is a sweet gentleman who is ready to be someone's quiet, mellow friend.
He is a great house-dog and is very well-mannered. He knows to go potty
outside & will "hold it" when he is in his crate. This is amazing
considering that he was rescued from an awful puppy mill. To read all
about the puppy mill he came from, please view the following link:

puppy mill is still up & running right in our state of Minnesota and the
conditions have not improved. Patisse and 17 other dogs of various
breeds were all rescued from this puppy mill. Some of the dogs had
missing eyes, severe infections and were in an extreme state of neglect. Poor Patisse is 12-14 years of age. He had never been held or known love
from a human. When we rescued him the only thing on his neck was a chain
and a tag that bore his USDA breeding number. It just breaks your heart
to think of the years that he spent trapped in a puppy mill when he
could be where he is now, curled up on a dog bed in a warm house. We
have now had Patisse neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested and he has
had a complete dental. This sweet boy had the worst teeth that our vet
had ever seen in 30+ years of practice. He had all but two teeth removed
during his dental. The Vet would have removed the last two as well, had
poor Patisse not been so fragile. The Vet feared removing any more teeth
would likely fracture his delicate jaw. His mouth was so badly infected
that it has resulted in a heart murmur. Patisse is such a sweet guy who
loves other dogs. We are so happy and feel so lucky to be able to find
him a loving home where he can spend the remainder of his years in
comfort and peace. Patisse would prefer to go to a home with at least
one other older dog to keep him company.

Charles-Miniature Poodle, Male, 7 - 8 year old
Sweet
little Charles is an inspiration. Having spent his life in a puppy mill,
he never knew the comfort of a human being's gentle touch. When he first
came to us, he was a filthy mess with a rusty chain around his neck and
number tattooed on the inside flap of his ear. It was clear within the
first twenty four hours of having him in our home that poor Charles has
suffered a great deal during his first eight or so years. His teeth were
so rotten that one fell out before we could even get him to the vet and
all of his remaining teeth were lost during his dental work. He cowered
and trembled whenever any adults came near him and preferred to spend
all of his time in his crate. But in the few short weeks that Charles
has spent with us, he has learned what it's like to sleep on a clean,
soft pillow and blanket every night and is very slowly coming out of his
shell. This is amazing considering that he was rescued from an awful
puppy mill. To read all about the puppy mill he came from, please view

Charles needs patience and love to help this him reach his full
potential. Whoever brings Charles into their family will be richly
rewarded by the love of a sweet little man with the most gentle heart --
and charming character. He has discovered the joys of soft, fluffy toys
and loves to prance through the house, carrying them. Each evening, he
timidly searches out everyone's toys and hauls them, one by one, into
his bed until they are, literally, piled around him. Then he rests his
chin on his favorite one and watches the people and dogs around him.
While he is still afraid of adults walking toward him, he is making
great strides in this area and now seeks out his foster mom. Charles
also loves children and is thrilled when his foster family's young child
quietly climbs into his bed next to him and cuddles him. Charles is very
well crate trained and nearly 100% potty trained. He also loves to sleep
next to another small poodle who came from the same puppy mill. He would
likely do best in a home with another small, gentle dog.
I want to help, but I can't
adopt a dog, what can I do?
Donate: All of the puppy mill dogs have had major medical needs
that have stretched our small organization's finances. In order to
keep their adoption fees reasonable, we need financial support to cover

Puppy Mill #2

Edith-Miniature Dachsund, Female, 6 years
old
Edith is a beautiful miniature Dachshund. She is a red
dapple Doxi who is 6 years of age, although she acts 1/2 her age! Edith
was recently rescued after suffering in an Amish Puppy Mill for years.
She is amazingly sweet and friendly. She is very good with other dogs
and cats. She loves people & is the ultimate lap dog! Edith must go to a
home with another dog. She is crate-trained and is perfecting her
paper-training skills! She is a quiet, loving and FABULOUS companion.
Jillie-Miniature
Dachsund, Female, 6 years old
Jillie is a beautiful miniature
Dachshund. She is a red dapple Doxi who is 6 years of age. Although she
is Dapple, she is mostly solid red in color. Jillie is a little shy at
first but warms up quickly. She was recently rescued after suffering in
an Amish Puppy Mill for years. She is amazingly sweet and friendly. She
is very good with other dogs and cats. She loves people & is the
ultimate lap dog! Jillie is crate-trained and is perfecting her
paper-training skills! She is a quiet, loving and FABULOUS companion.
Doris-Miniature
Daschund, female, 6 years old
Doris is a friendly, sweet & loving
girl. She loves nothing more than to sit in your lap. Doris is 6 years
of age and was recently rescued from a puppy mill. She was torn away
from her puppies and dropped off at a local Humane Society by the puppy
miller later that same day. Sadly, she had somehow been badly burned at
the puppy mill. She came to us covered with scar tissue where she should
have had fur. Poor Doris will bear her scars for the rest of her life.
They don't bother her though. Most importantly, her tragic past has done
nothing to dampen her spirits or affect her sweet nature. She is a
wonderful girl who will make a fabulous companion. Doris is good with
other dogs & cats.
